What ABAARM certification means for your care. Administered by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).

What ABAARM certification actually requires

ABAARM certification is awarded after a candidate passes a Part I written exam, a Part II oral exam (taken on separate dates), and submits final eligibility documentation. Physicians who have passed Part I but not yet Part II are designated as “Diplomate,” while those who complete the full sequence become “Board Certified.” Dr. Castellano completed the full sequence.

A4M, ABMS, and the honest framing

ABAARM is a real, verifiable, industry-standard credential within anti-aging and regenerative medicine. It is administered by A4M, a private professional organization that has set the credential standard in this field since 1992. Anti-aging medicine is not currently recognized as a specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) — the umbrella body for ABFM, ABIM, and the other 22 ABMS member boards. Most anti-aging clinics phrase ABAARM as “ABAARM board certified” or “Diplomate, ABAARM,” which is the accepted industry convention. We want you to know what category the credential sits in so you can weigh it accurately alongside Dr. Castellano’s ABFM certification, which is ABMS-recognized.

Why it matters to your care

The ABAARM curriculum covers lab interpretation, hormone optimization, nutraceuticals, and the metabolic and endocrine territory that standard family medicine residency doesn’t go deep on. For men’s hormone work, weight loss driven by metabolic and endocrine signals, and the longevity-oriented panels Dr. Castellano runs, the ABAARM training is what lets him read the picture together with the ABFM family-medicine foundation — rather than treating one body of knowledge in isolation.
